The History Of Mater Home Lotteries
During the early 1900s, Art Unions contributed much to support charitable endeavors. The Sisters of Mercy promoted these Art Unions since prizes that were up for grabs in games and lotteries were much coveted by participants. Prizes included transportation facilities like the hundred-dollar horse and buggy as well as brand new cars during the 1920s.
The first ever Mater Home Lotteries held caught the interest of many Queensland folks as well as those living outside. Many participated in the successful activity and lottery winners served to advertise how favorable new suburb homes were. The success of the Mater Home Lottery eventually resulted in the involvement of more eager-to-help donors.
